Frequently Asked Questions

  • + What types of activities can we expect to participate in?

There should be many family-friendly activities available, including: basketball, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, biking, walking trails, playground, animal petting barn, cornhole, archery, crafts, giant outdoor checkers and chess, etc. Other activities that may be available (weather and volunteer availability permitting): .22 riflery, skeet shooting, archery tag, etc.

  • + What are sessions like?

During your week, we want you to be encouraged and interact with your family on a spiritual level, in addition to getting a chance to rest. So we offer two engaging sessions each day to provide teaching from the Word, a time of worship, and points of connection with your family. Sessions last about an hour each.

  • + Is there childcare during sessions?

Depending on volunteer availability and the number of guest children, we do our best to provide childcare for children ages 0-4. Your children ages 5+ will sit in with you, but we have coloring/activity sheets for them, and the teaching times are family-friendly.

  • + Do we need to bring any food?

Nope! All meals and snacks are provided during your stay. Maranatha works hard to ensure that meals are both filling and kid friendly, with options that work for your family.

  • + What if I have a family member with food allergies?

Because Maranatha values keeping camp affordable, our allergy accommodations are limited. Our small kitchen is not equipped to prepare specialized food for allergies. Whenever possible, we offer main menu items that are gluten-friendly (items that are not made with gluten, but are made in the same kitchen as wheat/gluten may contain trace amounts) or accessible for various allergies (a protein without gluten or dairy, for example). Please make a note of allergies in your registration so we can plan quantities accurately. We do our best to label food that our guests are allergic to.

You’re welcome to bring your own supplemental food if you are on a specific diet or would like specific food (ready to eat or microwaveable). We have fridge space in the dining hall designated for this.

  • + What type of accommodations are available for family camp?

There are a few types of housing styles available for family camp:

Summit West // Hotel-style guest room. Includes a full private bath, 1 queen bed, and 2 twin/cot bunks. Portable cot bunk available upon request (room capacity 6-8).

Grace Cottage // While on camp property, this option is more remote and has its own driveway from the main road with trails that connect it to the main campus. The cottage overlooks Marsh Pond and includes a shared kitchen, living room, and rec room. Grace can comfortably house 2-3 families (depending on size) in its four guest rooms, each including a full bath, 1 queen bed, and 1-4 cot sized bunks (room capacity 6 to 10).

Bring an RV // The camp has three RV sites available. If you can claim one of those spots, we will give you a $25 per-person discount on your registration.

  • + Can we bring a friend?

Because the purpose of family camp is to help your family connect with one another, we only allow immediate family members to attend together. Thanks for understanding.

  • + How are housing assignments determined? Can I request a specific style of housing for my family?

Housing assignments are determined by our staff on a first-come, first-serve basis, while taking into consideration family size and special needs. We do our best to take your housing requests into consideration but cannot guarantee you will get your preferred choices. During the registration process, you will have the ability to share your housing preferences.

  • + Is there a dress code?

While we have freedom in Christ in how we apply the principles of modesty, we ask that discretion and deference guide your clothing choices for camp. View our guidelines here.

  • + What should we pack?

Casual clothing, swimsuits and towels, sweatshirts for chilly evenings, shoes for different activities, Bibles and notebooks, bedding (or sleeping bags), toiletries, bug spray, sunscreen. We have some bikes on property, but you’re welcome to bring your own (just don’t forget helmets!). You’re welcome to bring hammocks or your family’s favorite game. If you need a pack-and-play for your baby, please bring that as well.

View our guidelines for more packing help.

  • + Do I need to bring my own bedding?

Yes. Each room has one queen and bunks, so please bring bedding/sleeping bags as desired. If you need a pack-and-play (portacrib) for your baby, please bring that as well.

  • + Can we come early?

You can arrive as early as 1pm on the Monday of family camp.

  • + Can we leave the property during the week?

Of course! If you would like a family outing to visit a local attraction or get ice cream, the afternoons are the best time to do so. Ask us for a recommended list of local attractions if you’re looking for ideas.

  • + Can I bring my pet?

For the comfort and safety of others, please arrange to leave all pets at home.

  • + Anything else I shouldn’t bring?

Smoking, drugs, alcoholic beverages, firearms, and fireworks are not permitted at Maranatha.

  • + How do I apply for financial aid?

Camp Maranatha works hard to keep camp rates affordable for families in any season of life. For those working through financial hardship, we want to help! Check out our scholarship policy page to get started on our four-step process.

  • + What if I need to cancel?

Please email to let us know.

    Cancellation policy:
Camp Maranatha does not want your inability to attend an event to cause financial hardship. Deposits are non-refundable as they cover processing fees. Any payments made in excess of the deposit may be refunded if given notice at least three weeks prior to the event, or if you have a family emergency or sickness at the time of the event. You can also opt to donate your registration fee towards our scholarship fund.

Note: Please arrange to leave all pets at home. Smoking, drugs, alcoholic beverages, firearms, and fireworks are not permitted at Maranatha.
