Frequently Asked Questions

  • + What types of activities can we expect to participate in?

There are many family-friendly activities available, including: swimming, basketball, canoeing, kayaking, walking trails, playground, animal petting barn, cornhole, archery, crafts, giant outdoor checkers and chess, plus other special activities by day!

  • + What are sessions like?

During your week, we want you to be encouraged and interact with your family on a spiritual level, in addition to getting a chance to rest. So we offer two engaging sessions each day to provide teaching from the Word, a time of worship, and points of connection with your family. Sessions last about an hour each and include a time of singing, 30 min themed teaching, and activities announcements. Coloring pages available for the kids. Mornings also offer family connect time, where you get to talk with your family about what you’re learning. Childcare is typically available for ages 0-4, or you can keep your children with you in session…. we don’t mind the noise!

  • + Is there childcare during sessions?

Depending on volunteer availability and the number of guest children, we do our best to provide childcare for children ages 0-4. Your children ages 5+ will sit in with you, but we have coloring/activity sheets for them, and the teaching times are family-friendly.

  • + Do we need to bring any food?

Please bring snacks and water bottles. Maranatha offers 3 simple, filling meals that most people can eat, plus an evening snack (like roasted marshmallows!). But whatever else your family will need, you’ll want to bring along. We have a guest fridge available in the dining hall and Summit Lighthouse room if needed, just please label your food.

Breakfasts typically include a type of egg, starch/carb, fruit, cereal, and toast.

Lunches are typically sandwich style, like sloppy joes, hot dogs, or pulled pork sandwiches.

Dinners include a main protein (like baked chicken, pork etc.), a veggie, side, and dessert.

  • + What if I have a family member with food allergies?

Because Maranatha values keeping camp affordable, our allergy accommodations are limited. Our small kitchen is not equipped to prepare specialized food for allergies. Whenever possible, we offer main menu items that are gluten-friendly (items that are not made with gluten, but are made in the same kitchen as wheat/gluten may contain trace amounts) or accessible for various allergies (a protein without gluten or dairy, for example). Please make a note of allergies in your registration so we can plan quantities accurately. We do our best to label food that our guests are allergic to.

You’re welcome to bring your own supplemental food if you are on a specific diet or would like specific food (ready to eat or microwaveable). We have a guest fridge space in the dining hall designated for this.

  • + What type of accommodations are available for family camp?

Housing options available for family camp:

    • Summit West // Hotel-style guest room. Includes a full private bath, 1 queen bed, and 2 twin/cot bunks. Portable cot bunk available upon request (room capacity 6-8).

    • Bring an RV // The camp has three RV sites available. If you can claim one of those spots, we will give you a $25 per-person discount on your registration.

  • + Can we bring a friend?

Because the purpose of family camp is to help your family connect with one another, we only allow immediate family members to attend together. Thanks for understanding.

  • + Is there a dress code?

While we have freedom in Christ in how we apply the principles of modesty, we ask that discretion and deference guide your clothing choices for camp. View our guidelines here.

  • + What should we pack?

    Casual clothing within our guidelines
    Swimwear and beach towels
    Sweatshirts for chilly evenings
    Shoes for different activities
    Bibles and notebooks
Pillows and bedding for the family (or sleeping bags)
    Bath towels
    Toiletries
    Dirty laundry bag
    Bug spray
    Sunscreen
    Frisbee
Bikes, if you’d like (just don’t forget helmets!)
    Hammocks
    Games/books

View our guidelines for more packing help.

  • + Can we leave the property during the week?

Of course! If you would like a family outing to visit a local attraction or get ice cream, the afternoons are the best time to do so. Ask us for a recommended list of local attractions if you’re looking for ideas.

  • + Anything else I shouldn’t bring?

Smoking, drugs, alcoholic beverages, firearms, and fireworks are not permitted at Maranatha.

  • + How do I apply for financial aid?

Camp Maranatha works hard to keep camp rates affordable for families in any season of life. For those working through financial hardship, we want to help! Check out our scholarship policy page to get started on our four-step process.

  • + What if I need to cancel?

Please email to let us know.

    Cancellation policy:
Camp Maranatha does not want your inability to attend an event to cause financial hardship. Deposits are non-refundable as they cover processing fees. Any payments made in excess of the deposit may be refunded if given notice at least three weeks prior to the event, or if you have a family emergency or sickness at the time of the event. You can also opt to donate your registration fee towards our scholarship fund.

Note: Please arrange to leave all pets at home. Smoking, drugs, alcoholic beverages, firearms, and fireworks are not permitted at Maranatha.
